Hysteroscopy

Women who may be experiencing abnormal uterine bleeding, infertility issues, have had their IUD come out of place or are considering sterilisation may be advised to have a hysteroscopy. The hysteroscopy procedure is done to evaluate further what may be causing these issues and better understand the health of the uterus before planning treatment.

During this procedure, done under general anesthesia, a special camera called a hysteroscope, is inserted through the vagina into the uterus.  A saline solution is then inserted into the uterus to expand the cavity and get a closer view of the health of the uterus, endometrial lining and openings of the two fallopian tubes.
